about

When a Bike enthusiast cum travel aficionado composes his first guitar album, the result is the proverbial song of the road. Ajit Narayan ( A/J)’s debut album So Far So Good is mesmerizing for its soulful, free spirited, emotional, and very positive journey-as-metaphor feel. Imagine the blue sky above, unending road ahead, wind in your hair, while glancing at the rear view mirror called life – a picture that’s set to pure guitar. Who wouldn’t want a lift aboard this album?

The title track has the unshackled personality of its composer; a mid tempo, veritable road song that sets in motion the album’s journey theme. In The Journey Begins, an overcast mood with peals of thunder and streaming rain opens the track unleashing a cathartic expression of angst; Jaisalmer (earlier called Dunes) has exotic strains of the desert; The sensitive Mady’s Tune explores a relationship’s journey, sharing an infectious personality with its muse –A/J’s wife Mady; while in Derailed, the tempo picks up, suggesting an onward march, a relentless turning of the wheels as fortunes change. Blue Sky, the famous Allman Brothers band song is a seven minute, pure instrumental tribute and finally, A/J defies all genres with the non conforming Feelin Blue.

At all times, A/J’s Guitar is so expressive that we never sense the absence of words; every riff has a story to tell.

So Far So Good is a positive affirmation of life. To quote A/J, it’s a celebration of “clarity gained from chaos.” The search for balance, for harmony in music has been a long strange trip in itself.

Hope you enjoy the ride.
